I wanted the composition to emphasise the contours and tones in the snow, but to do so meant going dangerously close to a large cornice to the right, not a good idea at any time, and certainly not on your own on a mountain top as the sun is setting. I liked the fact that there seems to be a battle between the cold colours of the snow, and the warmth of the light from the setting sun. Any hint of warm light was short lived, and it was utterly freezing at this spot.
