The Cuillins from South Morar at dusk. It may not be obvious to the viewer but technically this is quite a challenging image for a number of reasons, not helped by very strong winds, and the surface area of a view camera which acts like a mini sail.

Ardnish peninsula (right) and Arisaig (far distance) with Loch Ailort in the foreground at dusk on a very windy evening.

The Cuillins from Morar.

Ardtoe beach (near Acharacle) in the rain.

Loch Beoraid looking towards the Glenfinnan Hills, with heavy showers approaching. This part of Scotland is stunningly beautiful, even in relatively flat light.

Skye and Moidart at dusk.

The Isles of Eigg and Rum.

Glen Moidart on a stormy dusk. Just visible in the rain in the distance are (parts of) Rois-bheinn and Sgurr na Ba Glaise.

Beinn Eighe, North West Highlands, seen from the North. The signs of Spring are just starting to appear as the landscape shifts (in parts) towards a hint of green.

Beinn Eighe, North West Highlands, seen from the North. Very flat light, but nonetheless such a stunning part of the world, and sometimes it is hard to believe that you are actually in Britain.

Slioch, North West Highlands. I became well acquainted with this rock as I lost track of time under the dark cloth. It took a long time to align the crack in the rock with the Westerly edge of Slioch (the left edge), and even longer to adjust the focal plane so that the image is sharp throughout. If there had been any midges.......

Slioch amidst snow showers. This was supposed to be a fine day. I'm glad it wasn't!

Central Highlands from Ben Ledi, shortly before dusk. In the middle distance are Stob Binnean and Ben More.

Loch Lubnaig at dusk.

Spring view towards Ben Ledi.

Loch Achall at dusk in September.

Isla from Colonsay. I've deliberately used tilt to make the bottom of the wall out of focus.

While walking up Ben Ledi from Callander this was the view of Loch Lubnaig, and the Lawers hills in the distance, on a fine March day with a cold, clear, North Easterly wind.

Sidelight during a shower, Glen Lyon.

St Cyrus beach at dawn.

Panorama of Beinn Alligin and beyond in showery conditions, Torridon. As always, a low resolution screen image doesn't do this justice in a number of respects.

Panorama looking towards Canisp (left) and Cul Mor at dusk on a moody September evening.

The magnificent outline of Suilven. It is remarkable that there is a stone wall going over the top of this mountain!

Mid Summer dusk over the Atlantic from the Isle of Colonsay.

A tree! Glen Lyon, Perthshire.

Forth rail bridge before dawn.

Loch Coire na Caime on Liathach, Torridon. The mountain was shrouded in mist which partially lifted as a shaft of light burst through, giving life to the Autumn colours and the ridiculous number of erratic boulders.

Beinn an Eoin and Beinn a'Chearcaill, Torridon, at dusk. This is a sister image to one previously posted on this website. After a day of lashing rain and wind, this light burst through as the sun went down.

Dusk light hits Liathach, Torridon.

Edinburgh in Winter at dusk. This is unusual in that it is the first time that I have ever used lens tilt to make the focal plane go from the top of the scene (the branches) down towards the horizon. Had there been anything in the immediate foreground at the bottom of the secene, it would have been out of focus.

Dusk at Portobello beach, Edinburgh

St Cyrus beach, Angus, before dawn. Looking South towards Montrose and Dundee.

Forth rail bridge, Edinburgh.
